Art of the Deal

Today, Anthony Davis will be making his return to NOLA. Ever since the Anthony Davis trade was made, like any trade, fans and analysts have been trying to crown a winner. The unanimous answer to that question, right now, is the Lakers. They are top of the west while the Pels have been struggling with injuries. However, the best piece of the entire trade might just be on the Pels right now.

Steal of the Deal

Brandon Ingram has been playing like a super star so far this year. He may not get the recognition he deserves because the Pels have been struggling, but the numbers do not lie. Ingram has averaged 26.1 points per game, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists this year. He has regularly taken over games in the fourth quarter, and he just all around looks the part. Keep in mind, he is just 22 years old.

What Does the Future Hold?

The New Orleans Pelicans chose to not offer Brandon Ingram an extension before the deadline passed due to concerns of his health. Over the summer, Ingram was dealing with blood clots in his arm, which for a short time, made some doctors wonder if he would be able to return to basketball any time soon. Due to this, Ingram is in the last year of his rookie deal. Here is the good news. He is a restricted free agent. This means that the Pels will be able to match any offer that Ingram receives this coming summer. So, while the Lakers may have won the trade in the short term, the Pels will likely come out on top in the long term. They received a young blossoming superstar, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, the fourth overall pick, which David Griffin turned into Jaxson Hayes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and a treasure chest of future picks as well. Not to mention, we have one of the greatest draft prospects in NBA history recovering and getting ready to come back around Christmas time.

Pels fans might be getting frustrated right now, but rest easy Pelican fans, because the future is bright!
