CeeDee Lamb: New Orleans Saints Prospect Review

The great thing about the New Orleans Saints roster is that it is so strong that we have no blaring needs. This gives the Saints the luxury of being able to trade up for a top WR or QB. CeeDee Lamb out of Oklahoma is going to be one of the first receivers off the board on draft night. The thought of adding this guy to Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders at WR should terrify opposing teams.

Michael Thomas Lookalike

When you watch the tape on CeeDee Lamb, one player comparison comes to mind. He plays the game a lot like Michael Thomas. Neither is known for their speed, but they always seem to find a way to create separation through great route running and always have breakaway speed once they get the ball in their hands. Michael Thomas is 6’3 203 lbs. Lamb is 6’2 1/2 198 lbs. Mike ran a 4.57 40 while Lamb ran a 4.50. Both have great hands, and both are great after the catch.

College Standout

CeeDee Lamb has been one of the best receivers in college football for a couple of years now. As a Freshman in 2017, he pulled in a respectable 46 catches for 807 yards and 7 touchdowns. During his Sophomore year, Lamb made a huge jump as he caught 65 catches for 1,158 yards and 11 touchdowns. Finally, last year he snagged 62 catches for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. Lamb has been getting it done for a long time.

How to Get Him

The Saints will definitely have to move up to grab Lamb. He is expected to go in the 10-15 range on Thursday night. I do not expect the Saints to move up for a receiver due to how deep this class is, but the temptation to add another Michael Thomas type player to the Saints plethora of weapons could become too much too resist. This guy would fit in absolutely perfectly on this offense. Hold it.
