Glover Teixirea Hits His Prime

At age 41 Glover Teixiera Hits His Prime, as he becomes the clear number one contender at light heavyweight. The UFC has already booked Israel Adesayna vs Jan Blachowicz for a title bout, unfortunately for Glover he will have to wait even longer for his shot at the belt.

Last night he finished Santos, something previous champ Jon Jones was unable to accomplish. Glover was able to sink in a choke in the third round. His last couple wins have been against title challengers. The dude literally knocked the teeth out of Anthony Smiths mouth.

Lets take a look at this recent run of success for the aging Glover. Who is now on his longest winning streak since entering the UFC (5).

Submission win over Karl Roberson, Submission win over Ion Cutelaba, Decision win over Nikita Krylov, a TKO win over Anthony Smith, and now a Submission win over Thiago Santos. Other notable wins are over Rampage Jackson, Ryan Bader, and Rashad Evans. Is this really the Prime Glover Teixeira

So What’s Next?

I mostly think the push for Izzy to fight Jan was a tactic to lure Jon Jones into a bout with Izzy. Now that Glover has emerged as a clear contender Dana should rethink that match up. Having Jan defend against Glover is better for the division anyway in my opinion. Maybe we will see an aging Glover hoist the belt in 2021.
