LSU is going to be a mainstay in this years NFL draft. They will produce multiple first round picks this year, and it could be the time for the Saints to stop avoiding LSU players in the draft. One player who could be a big time help on defense is K’Lavon Chaisson.

Raw Talent

When you watch tape on K’Lavon Chaisson, it is obvious to see that this guy has straight up raw talent. Chaisson is a 6’4 250 lbs hard hitter who plays with that fire you’re always look for. He is a great athlete who can play on the line or lineup at Linebacker. To show you just how athletic this guy is, take a look at him chasing down one of the best run after catch receivers in football, CeeDee Lamb. Most Corners had trouble catching this guy.

College Stats

K’Lavon Chaisson put up good stats in college. On a defense that was filled with first round talent, Chaisson made a real impact. He totaled 60 tackles with 34 of those being solo. 13.5 of those tackles were for loss. Chaisson was also able to get to the QB, totaling 6.5 sacks. If this guy can put on a little bit of muscle to go with his elite quickness, he will be dangerous in the NFL.

How to Get Him

Chaisson has flown up draft boards after the finish of this college season. It looks as if Chaisson will have just been picked when the Saints go on the clock at 24. The Falcons at 16 and Cowboys at 17 are two teams that are expected to be seriously interested Chaisson. It is unlikely that he makes it past both of those teams and even more unlikely that he will fall all the way to 24. This means the Saints will have to trade up. While I do not see it likely that if the Saints do trade up it will be for Chaisson, you should expect the unexpected with Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis. After all, a couple of drafts ago, the Saints moved up 13 spots to grab a young raw pass rusher, Marcus Davenport. Hold it.
