Since I haven’t blogged about RB&R Day in over 2 months, I’ve decided to grow some balls and get back on track writing blogs nobody will fucking read ever. There was a time where I blogged like somebody had a pistol to my head, hungry enough to eat an egg roll out a crackheads pocket.

But, as of late I’ve been a full time mail man and red bean man. I had no choice but to pop an addy and get back on the keyboard this morning to vent my thoughts on the last 11 RB&R Day’s that have passed.

RB&R Day 112

Was on July 4th and I think this is where I got fucked up on my blogging pattern I had going for years prior. Went on a roof top with a whole Blue Oak BBQ tradition care package like I was Brad Pitt or some shit. The first and last time I ever eat on a roof top. Other than that, Blue Oak BBQ came with some heat on the fourth. Swam my nuts off man.

RB&R Day 113

Now this was a parish extravaganza. Not even telling a fib, I went to a fucking Spirit Halloween for tradition. Now called Round 2 Reloaded, this place is in the heart of Village Square in St. Bernard Parish. You walk in and may think it house dead bodies, maybe a front of some sort, but you leave alive with an exceptional hotplate. The wings is where this man do his best work and he do it all by himself in the kitchen.

RB&R Day 114

Went back to Cooter Browns for the first time in years. This place done evolved, got it’s own kitchen and ordering station with a menu longer than the bible. A sexy piece of fried chicken with tradition from Cooter Brown’s is something we all need to do once. Some of the best fucking bar food you can find in the city and I know this.

RB&R Day 115

Ah, another good ass time on the Westbank. I mean these mfers really do got some obnoxiously good food over there. My favorite thing about the Westbank is ribbing the fuck outta them and it’s never personal. They just happy to be featured. Head down deep into the Westbank and when ya see it smoking? YOU KNOW IT’S THE RIBMASTER.

RB&R Day 115

Another place I strongly suggest trying because of the service, vibes and hard work put into that delicious food over there.

RB&R Day 116

Damn, this one was a fucking hit too. Again, on the Westbank. I’m telling ya man this shit gonna go to their head. So is this legendary and timeless food over there at The Real Pie Man.

Cedric, the LEGEND

I know this dude, like we go way back. Cedric use to drop off hot plates at the dealership I sold cars at every day for years. I’m 30 and he been doing it since before I was born. This is hands down one of the most iconic spots on the Westbank.

RB&R Day 117

A fucking bowling alley. That is where I went on RB&R Day 117. Had enough folks suggest taking my happy ass to Colonial Lanes in Harahan. Home of the highest credit scores and most retired folks. Lemme tell ya, as soon as I walked in it looked like 1962. I don’t personally know what 1962 looks like in person, but that day I felt as if I entered a time capsule. Immediately knowing that the tradition would have about as much flavor as a piece of construction paper. Packed house, go bowl ya nuts off any time over at Colonial Lanes.

RB&R Day 118

Back to Kenner, the Aeropostale of Louisiana. Lee’s Seafood got a legacy out there and I had no problems with this place. Little pricy, not much of a atmosphere, but good nevertheless. Problem is you can throw a rock to Queen’s Cuisine from this establishment and we all know Queen is the Queen of this shit for real I put that on my maw.

RB&R Day 119

Right up there with Cooter Brown’s when it comes to bar and food is Hobnobbers. Straight up they kinda slacked that day, but I’ve been there enough to know they got fire ass grub. That piece of fish I ate was fantastic, but it was just one piece so I was pissed kinda. Saw my boy Dennis the plumber while I was out there.

RB&R Day 120

Yeah, ya better pack a fucking lunch and leave it if you going out to Jeanfreaus in the parish. The place I bought my first pack of sno-caps as a kid. Get there on time and punctual they gonna have a line out to the highway and EVERYTHING is phenomenal there including the plate I got on RB&R Day 120. What a vibe, right next to the school I got kicked out of as a child. Greatest parish in the world and the greatest store in that parish is Jeanfreaus.

RB&R Day 121

One really odd day of tradition occurred on Labor Day. Went to Tracey’s off Magazine and then hightailed to District Donuts to capture the last two Red Bean Donuts in stock for that day. Made history in a way…yes the Donut is worth ya tastebuds and time. Tracey’s was out of everything I hated them that day, but they got fire beans for a low ass price of $7

RB&R Day 122

This past Monday I came across what I think is a true little gem in New Orleans. Baby’s Snack Box on Orleans is something fucking else. Right next to Carver Theater, you gonna feel like ya in a movie once ya done. Another plate for $7, a snowball, a this, a that, I’m telling ya these folks got it all over at Baby’s Snack Box. Such a good time.

Red Bean Redemption

So there it is, I’ve hopefully redeemed myself for slacking on these hot plate blogs nobody reads. I enjoyed moving my fingers again like this and spewing my instant reaction on the last 11 Mondays of tradition. Thanks to the folks who bought RB&R Day shirts…I am so honored.

Sold and shipped over 1400 of them mfers the last 8 weeks. I’m dropping these soon.

City Tradition Line

Camellia is the GOD of Red Beans, Blue Runner just fugazi. Words to live by as we depart.
