Happy Saintsgiving to all the Whodat Nation! As you all know, we have got an important contest on our hands tonight. A win will lock up the NFC South crown for the third year in a row. Also, if we win and the Bills take care of business against the Cowboys, we will be guaranteed a top three seed. However, this will not be a cakewalk. We learned this lesson just a few short weeks ago when the 1-7 Falcons came to The Dome. Everybody and their mama would have thought the Saints were going to march right through the Dirty Birds. We know how that turned out. That’s enough harping on the past, here are the Keys to the Saintsgiving Contest!
Strong O-line Play
A few weeks ago, our offensive line had their worst game we had seen in long time. Coming into the game, we had only given up 12 sacks all year. The Falcons’ defensive line was only able to get to the opposing QB seven times on the year. Well, we gave up six sacks. Guys were getting free runs at Drew, and the offense suffered. We have got to give Drew a chance to attack the Falcons’ banged up secondary, and that all starts up front.
Feed Alvin Kamara
Last time around, Alvin Kamara only touched the ball 12 times. That is simply not enough. When you have one of the best RBs in the league, you make sure he gets the ball at least 20 times a game. Sean Payton knows this, and the following week against Tampa, he gave Kamara the ball 23 times. We all saw the difference in the way the offense played against Tampa in comparison to the way we played against Atlanta. There is a different dynamic to this offense when Kamara is feeling it, so feed him.
Get off the Field on Third down
This killed us during the last game. We could not get off the field on third down to save our lives. We had the Dirty Birds right where we wanted them, but then we would let them off the hook. No letting them off the hook this time around. Stay strong for one more play, and then rest easy knowing that our offense will get the job done.
So, if we can have solid offensive line play, feed Alvin Kamara, and get off the field on third down, we could be having a very happy Saintsgiving! Whodat!!
