The final week of the regular season is upon us, and there is still a lot on the line for the Saints. There a few different possibilities as to where the Saints will end up when the dust settles, but if they Saints want to move up to the second or even the first seed, they need to take of business against the Panthers. Here’s how they can do that.
Contain Christian McCaffrey
McCaffrey started out the season as an MVP candidate. He has put up 1,361 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. That is paired with 933 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. To put it simply, he is their offense. If we can limit him, out side of D.J. Moore, there isn’t really anyone of the Panthers who you would consider a real threat. The main goal should be to stop McCaffrey.
It is important that the Saints defense starts creating more and more turnovers. This week they will have a great chance to get the ball rolling. The Panthers are starting rookie QB Will Grier, who in his first start last week, threw three interceptions. If our defense can give our potent offense extra chances, the possibilities are endless.
Limit the Penalties
One thing that led to us falling behind early on last week was the penalties. The refs may have been flag happy, but we can’t give them even the slightest reason to throw the flag. Penalties are likely to happen, it is a part of the game, but we need to do our very best to stay ahead of the chains when we are on offense, and not give the opposing offense any freebies when we are on defense.
So, if we can limit Christian McCaffery, create turnovers, and limit the penalties, we should be in a good position to finish up the regular season with a win! Whodat!
