Last week was disappointing to say the least. During the first quarter it looked like we were going to run away with the game. The other three quarters were a nightmare. Here’s what we need to do to get back on track in a crucial Week 3 game against Green Bay. These are the Keys to the Contest.
Get Emmanuel Sanders Going
Sanders has been near non existent during our first two games. Sanders was expected be the final piece that pushed us over the top. So far he has only four catches. Last week against Las Vegas, without Michael Thomas, Sanders had one catch for 18 yards. That is definitely not going to cut it. Sean Payton should be focused on getting Sanders the ball. This will take the focus off of Alvin Kamara who has carried out offense almost single handedly.
Drew Brees Has to Show He’s Still Got it
For as long as I can remember watching football, Drew Brees has been the QB for the Saints. Monday Night is possibly the worst I’ve seen him play. Drew was missing throws I’ve never seen him miss before. As he has done his whole career, Drew needs to prove the doubters wrong and prove he’s still got it. Another bad performance tonight, and we’ll have fair weather fans calling to bench him.
Cut Down on the Penalties
Penalties have been a thorn in the side of the Saints the first two weeks. We have committed over 100 yards worth of penalties in both of the first two games. Championship teams do not do that. You can’t beat the opposition until you stop beating yourself first. This is a team that has been together for a while now, so there’s no excuse for the penalties to continue.
This game is about as crucial as they get this early in the season. No doubt it will have playoff implications later on, so let’s get it done. Hold it.
