It is game day once again. It is week 9, and this is, without a doubt, the biggest game of the season so far. The 5-2 Saints are in Tampa to take on the 6-2 Bucs. A win will put the Saints in first in the NFC South and give them the tie breaker over Tampa. This would be huge come the end of the season, not only for division standings but conference standings as well. With that being said, these are the Keys To The Contest.
Strong O-Line Play
For the first time since Week 1, it looks like the offense is going to be at full strength. Thomas, Sanders, Cook, and the rest of the gang should be ready to go. The key to letting these guys shine will be protecting Drew Brees. You have to give him time to make the read and pick from his plethora of weapons. If the offensive line has a solid game, this offense will look like it is powered by WAM Electric!
The secondary, specifically the safeties, have been a problem for weeks. Every single week, they blow a coverage and give up a 50+ yard play. Tom Brady, Mike Evans, and Antonio Brown will eat this defense alive if they want to blow coverage this week. It is time for the secondary to get it together.
Play With Energy
This game is going to feel like a playoff game. This very well could be looked at as the NFC South championship. Obviously there is a lot of football left to be played, but this is the kind of caliber game this is. Both sides of the ball need to come out ready to play. No slow starts are allowed tonight. That energy needs to carry out through the entire game. We’ve beaten this team once, and we should be pumped up to do it again!
Week 9 will undoubtedly be considered a turning point of this season. The O-Line needs to show up, the secondary needs to show up, and the guys needs to play like their hair is on fire. Hold it.
