Yesterday we covered an offensive LSU star, Justin Jefferson. Today we will be looking at the other side of the ball. Patrick Queen was one of the best Linebackers in the country this past season, and the leader on the LSU championship defense. Queen would fill right in at Linebacker to create a dangerous duo with Demario Davis on this Saints defense.

All the Tools

When you watch film of Patrick Queen, he checks all the boxes for a linebacker. He is 6’1 227 lbs. He has that aggression and ferocity that we spoke about when evaluating Kenneth Murray out of Oklahoma. This guy can read plays before they happen and blow them up. He is also fantastic in pass coverage. Out of 488 snaps where Queen dropped into coverage, the longest pass he gave up was 20 yards. That’s phenomenal. I’d go as far as to say he is the second best pass coverage linebacker in this class behind Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons, who is expected to be selected in the top 5 picks. Queen just does it all.

Filling the Stat Sheet

This past season Queen put up an impressive stat line. He account for total tackles, three sacks, one fumble recovery, and one interception against Bama. These stats came on a stacked defense filled with future NFL players all over the place. This guy came to play ever week and got it done.

How to Get Him

Patrick Queen has a good chance at being available for the Saints at pick 24. Some mock drafts recently have had him going in the 19-22 range, but most have him waiting to picked by the black and gold at 24. Queen would be a fantastic addition and a plug and play pick on this defense. Hold it.
