Tom Brady announced today on instagram that he will not be re-signing with the New England Patriots. The six time Super Bowl champion intends to try his hand at free agency. Well there it is, the end of an era. The Patriots have dominated the National Football League for basically 20 years now. Brady is the Michael Jordan of the NFL and looked at as a super hero in many peoples eyes. Mine? Not so much, but I do respect what he’s done. However, it was weird to see how he went out with this “LOVE YOU PATS NATION” post and didn’t get into the whole Belichick subject throughout the departure.
What Is Next For Tom Brady?
As of right now, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the betting favorite to land Brady. Personally if it were me, I’m retiring. You run the risk of hurting your legacy by going to a different team. Will he win a Super Bowl with the Bucs? Not a snowballs chance in hell. I would however like to have the opportunity to watch the Saints beat up on Brady two times out the year. Brady should listen to Joe Montana, who earlier this year told him not to go to another team. Montana famously left the 49ers and found his way on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brady Is A Patriot No More
It could be Tampa, Los Angeles, Indianapolis or even the San Francisco 49ers. Nobody knows where Brady will end up, but this is the most high profile free agent in the history of the league. So let’s sit back and see what happens. One thing is for sure though, the Patriots dynasty is officially over. If it weren’t for Adam Vinatieri’s leg, the tuck rule, and Pete Carroll, there may have never been a dynasty at all. Hold It.
