UFC 267 Moved to ESPN+
Normally numbered cards are always PPV but Dana White gave everyone a treat to watch as they get ready for the crotch goblins the following night. The main card is loaded with title contenders, an interim title bout, and a light heavyweight championship fight. Still facing covid restrictions from different countries the UFC returns again to Fight Island for UFC 267.
I don’t see a way Glover beats Jan. Anything in the fight game is possible but I think Jan finishes Glover handily on Saturday and retains his LHW title. The 205 division is looking anemic, it has been for some time now the UFC is going to need an infusion of talent. This bout has a combined age of 79 and a combined record of 59-15-0. Neither guy took the easy road to get here. Jan via decision
Yan Vs Sandhagen
If I was a betting man I’d say Petr Yan wins, well luckily I am. That’s my pick for this interim fight. I think Petr is at the top of the mountain skill set-wise at bantamweight. He was beating Aljo in the late rounds and may have finished him had it not been for the illegal knee.
Islam Makhacev Vs Dan Hooker
The winner of this fight has the next shot at the title behind Justin Gaethje if Gaethje beats Mike Chandler. Hooker just got a win a few weeks ago but he walked away unscathed and rather than go home and sit in quarantine he decided to take on one of the top fighters in the lightweight rankings. Islam will take Hooker down and display his elite-level grappling. It will be up to Hooker to defend and find a way to win. I’m going Islam via submission, Hooker has never been submitted in the UFC but he has lost via submission in his career.
The Return of Khamzat Chimaev
After contemplating retirement post covid battle Khamzat looks to continue his spectacular run in the UFC. In July 2020 Khamzat fought twice in ten days, finishing both opponents he fought two months later and knocked out vet Gerald Meerschaert. Then he disappeared from the sport, he retired in 2020 after he pulled out a fight with Leon Edwards after falling ill to Covid 19. Well, one year later he looks to make his return to welterweight with a serious opponent in Li Jiangling.
How will this fight play out? This one won’t be a walk in the park for Khamzat, Li is as game to throw hands as anyone else in the UFC, he also has great grappling skills. I still see Chimaev getting his hand raised bot decision win.
